About Coaching

  1. What is coaching and how does it work?

Coaching occurs anytime one person assists another to discover a truth, ask a better question, get more in touch with who s/he really is. Personal and professional coaches work with individuals (and groups) to promote growth and excellence similar to the way peak performance coaches work with athletes to bring out their best.

Coaching helps you identify the gap between where you are right now and where you'd like to be. A great coach provides the support for you to achieve what you want.

There are several ways that coaches work – some by the hour or the project, and some by the month. Due to the nature of coaching, most coaches ask for at least a three month commitment, although most will let you "off the hook" after a month if you decide it's not working for you.

We want you to get the greatest benefit from your investment, that's why we offer a free 1/2 hour initial session so you can discover right from the start that coaching is something that will benefit you.

  2. I'm not very auditory, can coaching over the telephone really work?

Like you, not everyone is primarily auditory. We can assure you, however, that coaching via telephone is very powerful. Perhaps because we don't have the visual distraction, the attention is more focused as we work with our clients. And of course we must use a telephone for our out-of-the-area clients who live many miles away.

We still have in-person sessions, but those are generally of a more therapeutic nature (guided imagery, hypnotherapy and NLP sessions) where having the visual cues are very important.

  3. What do you charge for coaching (what are the fees and formats)?

We have various programs and services. We normally work with groups and individuals on a monthly retainer basis, although we do offer a "per project" and sometimes a "per session" fee.

We prefer to discuss the various options with our prospective clients during a free "get acquainted" session so we can best tailor our services to meet their needs.

Our rates run from $150/month for group coaching, up to $2995 (total) for our intensive Career Life Planning™ program which is highly personalized and lasts from 4-6 months.

  4. Where did you receive your training?

Basically, in life! Seriously, most people who find themselves drawn to coaching have been doing it in some form or another most of their lives.

Katie has an extensive background in Human Resources, specifically Training and Development. Regardless of what category of training she was providing, she always found the courses she enjoyed the most were the ones that moved people and touched their lives in some profound way.

In her HR role, Katie often found employees, supervisors, and managers seeking her out with personal issues. And as you can imagine, over the years she's reviewed thousands of resumes and interviewed hundreds of people, so career counseling/coaching was a natural. Plus she loves seeing people become more and step up to their next station in life.

Katie is a life-long learner, dedicated to continuing to develop her understanding of how the mind works and her skills in drawing out the best in others in new and interesting ways.

Professionally, she is a member of the International Coaching Federation and of Coachville. Katie is also a graduate of Coach University.

The background of our other coaches can be found on their individual websites or pages.

  5. Do you specialize mainly in career coaching or do you also have other areas of specialty?

We work predominantly with individuals and companies who are in transition. That could mean an individual who is considering a new career, a budding entrepreneur, or a company facing rapid growth. In addition to coaching, we also provide public workshops (in person, by telephone, and by email) as well as corporate training progams and retreats.

We provide management, leadership, and communications training at all levels, helping to train Managers and Leaders in the "Coach Approach". We also use various assessment tools including the DiSC assessment, the Personal Communication Styles Inventory (PCSI), the Motivation Profile, and other assessments in designing and delivering training and coaching.

Entrepreneurship/Small Business Startups is another niche. Over the years we have helped many, many people start successful businesses. We provide Entrepreneurship and Business Plan writing courses locally and by telephone.

Katie is particularly fascinated with how the mind works, and also provides Creativity, Journaling, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Handwriting Analysis workshops.

As a BONUS, current clients are invited to attend our workshops for minimal fees, and often for free.

  6. What if I decide coaching isn;t for me – do you have a refund policy?

Absolutely!  It takes time to build rapport, and not every coach works well for every client. That's why we offer an introductory  get acquainted session and we even have a referral system for those times when we think a different coach might work better.

When you purchase coaching you are really purchasing accessibility to the coach via telephone and email access.  Hiowever, that usually includes a minimum number of telephone sessions.  So, if we start a coaching relationship and you  then decide it's not what you wanted, we will be happy to provide a pro-rated retund for any unused sessions based on your contractual agreement.

  7. In one or two sentences, what is your philosophy of coaching?

We believe that each of us has our own best answers within, and our role as a coach is to facilitate your ability to discover those answers so you can continue to move forward through choice rather than necessity or strife.

In closing, we'd like to ask you, what's the gift you have to share that would make a difference to the world, and is worth centering your life around? What would your life look like if you were to start that right now?
